About ReportStolenValor.org

Mission Statement:
AMVETS' intent as a leading veterans advocacy group is to protect the valor and honor of our true American heroes and the integrity of their hard-earned awards. ReportStolenValor.org is a new public awareness campaign initiated by concerned veterans to safeguard our proud culture and the values of our community. We accomplish this by presenting an accurate and reliable tool to educate concerned citizens about the Stolen Valor Act of 2005 and help facilitate the reporting of suspected Stolen Valor offenders to federal authorities and the news media.

At launch, the beta site will provide links to assist citizens in contacting their local television network affiliates. Eventually, ReportStolenValor.org will provide a detailed and comprehensive database of investigative journalists from television, print and online mediums.

ReportStolenValor.org also provides a link to the Military Times Hall of Valor, a comprehensive database of more than 26,000 military awards for valor. The database, painstakingly researched by historian Doug Sterner of www.homeofheroes.com, is the most complete resource of its kind anywhere. The database is easily searchable by servicemember, award, conflict and keyword.

ReportStolenValor.org will also serve to highlight AMVETS' ongoing and vigorous support of related current and future legislation including H.R. 666: Military Valor Roll of Honor Act.

ReportStolenValor.org will be updating daily and adding a number of significant new features, so please check back regularly. In response to the overwhelming volume of public queries since Dec. 4, we have added a frequently asked questions (FAQs) page and will be posting content over the next few days. Please note that many of your e-mails will not be replied to individually as your questions may be general in nature and will be addressed on our FAQs page.

Not only will be adding to our news page as stories break, but we will be compiling a Stolen Valor news archive. The Military Times has provided its collection of related stories published in recent years which we will be adding to our archive soon. We also invite our visitors to e-mail links to news stories for inclusion on the site, but please be aware that we will only include stories from bona fide news sources.
